Aware of the concern that the temporary closure of the pool might cause hydrotherapy users, Adrian Chapman, Peterborough City Council’s Service Director for Adult Services and Communities, has kindly sent the following key messages for pool users. Over the coming days and weeks, Adrian will keep these messages updated, so please watch this space!

“1. As you will know by now the council has been forced to temporarily close St George's because of a fairly major leak from the pool. Unfortunately, the source of the water loss cannot be traced and so the pool will need to be drained to both prevent further harm being caused and to determine the exact problem. Engineers will come into the pool this week to carry out tests to find and fix the problem. Please be absolutely assured that as soon as we know more detail we'll let the pool staff and users know.

2. In more positive news, I am delighted to confirm that the council will be providing a brand new community hydrotherapy pool in Peterborough by mid-2019! We will be working closely with both the steering group and the user group to co-design the new facility so watch this space for news about how to get involved.

3. Users may notice some temporary use in the former Pupil Referral Unit part of the building in the near future. Exact details of who this will be are still being finalised, but I do not anticipate this affecting the pool-side of the building in any way. Again, as soon as I have them I'll share more details.”
