As a valued user of St George’s Community Hydrotherapy Pool we wanted to get in touch as we approach the end of what has been a very difficult year. We hope that you and your loved ones have been managing during this time.

As you may be aware, Vivacity Culture and Leisure Trust who operate St George’s were hard hit by the fallout of the pandemic which resulted in handing back the contract to run leisure and cultural services for the city to Peterborough City Council. Whilst this has been a very unsettling time for customers and staff, all services have now been taken over by new management. Leisure venues, including St George’s, are now under the management of Peterborough Limited, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Peterborough City Council. The leisure centres will still be operated by the same Vivacity staff and the Vivacity name has been retained by Peterborough Limited.

The reopening of leisure venues and the associated services that Vivacity has traditionally provided is a staggered process. We are pleased that following thorough risk assessments, approved by Public Health and considerable changes to the way we operate, we have now been able to open three of our leisure venues. Our provision is very different than it was pre-Covid but we are adapting well to the new way of working.

Sadly, we haven’t been able to open all of our venues at the same time as each present unique challenges to reopening that we have to overcome. One of these venues is St. George’s which at the currently time remains closed. We know the importance of hydrotherapy provision in Peterborough is being discussed by our colleagues in the council and we will do our upmost to keep you informed of developments as we hear them. We hope that services for all of our customers will resume once it is safe and viable for them to do so.

In the meantime, we wanted to wish you a peaceful Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year!
